USE CASES · WHERE IT IS ACCEPTED

Tailored to the receiving body

Requirements differ widely from country to country. Confirm the receiving body’s rules first and we produce the translation and stamping to match — it saves a great deal of back and forth.

01

Car rental abroad

Rental companies and transport authorities in Australia, New Zealand and Germany accept different forms of translation; some only accept translations issued by a designated body.

02

Exchanging a local licence

Exchanging a Chinese licence for an overseas one requires translations of the vehicle classes, first-issue date and validity period; some states also require a translator’s declaration.

03

Foreign nationals in China

Holders of a foreign licence exchanging it for a Chinese one need a Chinese translation bearing the translation stamp, submitted with entry/exit records and a medical certificate.

04

Insurance claims

Translations proving driving qualification and the scope of vehicle classes for cross-border traffic incidents and vehicle insurance claims.

Licence translation is more than vehicle classes

Requirements for the form of the translation vary enormously between countries. Confirming the receiving body’s rules before deciding the rendering and stamping method avoids most of the rework.

  • Vehicle class codes rendered in locally accepted usage, with the original codes kept for comparison
  • Archive number, first-issue date and validity period checked item by item, avoiding requests for further documents at exchange
  • Name and date of birth kept identical with the passport; foreign nationals follow the passport spelling
  • Purpose and language stated on the translation; translator’s declaration and agency credentials attached when needed
PROCESS · HOW IT WORKS

Four steps, all from your desk

Photographs of the front and subpage are all we need — no originals. You approve the draft before stamping, we post the hard copy by courier and send the PDF at the same time.

01

Send both pages

Photograph or scan the front page and subpage of the licence, noting the destination country and the receiving body’s requirements.

02

Quote & confirmation

A price and turnaround within 30 minutes, charged per licence with front and subpage at the same price; rush orders are scheduled first.

03

Translation & review

The translator works from the original and a second person checks the archive number, dates and vehicle classes before the draft comes to you.

04

Stamping & delivery

Typeset, printed and stamped with the official translation seal; hard copy shipped and PDF sent simultaneously, ready for submission.

FAQ · COMMON QUESTIONS

Driver licence translation Q&A

Can I drive abroad with a Chinese driving licence?
It depends on the destination. Most countries accept a Chinese licence together with a stamped translation for short visits; some require an international driving permit (IDP) or a translation by a locally certified translator. Confirm with the local transport authority or the car rental company before travelling.
Can you produce a NAATI-certified translation for Australia or New Zealand?
NAATI-certified translations must be issued by a NAATI-certified translator, and we can help connect you. Our standard stamped translation is accepted by some rental companies and institutions — please confirm first whether NAATI certification is specifically required.
What about the sworn translation Germany requires?
Some German bodies require a translation by a court-sworn translator. We can prepare a draft to the required format and connect you with a local sworn translator; the final requirement is always set by the receiving body.
My licence is expired or still in the probation period. Can it still be translated?
Yes. We translate the validity period and probation marking exactly as they appear. Whether the receiving body accepts it is their decision — we never modify or improve the original information.
What do I need to have a foreign licence translated into Chinese?
Clear photographs of the front and back are sufficient. To exchange a foreign licence for a Chinese one you will also need entry/exit records and a medical certificate; the exact checklist follows the local vehicle administration office.
